Picture
This 1979 pic of the demolition of the Morgans Factory near Battersea Bridge won me 4th prize in the Crowd vote in the Photocrowd architecture assignment. The 'expert' didn't rate it; Mike Betts, photographer, teacher and co-founder of Photocrowd says: 'My reticence in awarding the image sprang primarily from the distracting intersection between sky and building, where a darkening of the sky has left a light halo around the buildings, and above the crane. If what we’re looking at is a scanned darkroom print, then it may well be worth remedying this with Photoshop and some careful layer mask work.'  In fact it's a scanned negative & personally I think my slightly unskilled darkening of the sky in Photoshop gives it a surreal sort of power.
Waddya think??

I totally agree with you. In fact the dramatic halo is what makes the image interesting!

the subject matter of the picture seems more the birth of a monster (the building at the back) than the demolition of the gritty industrial building
